Mathew McConaughey Visits Home Town of Uvalde, Texas To Pay Tribute To The Live Lost

Actor Mathew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves were seen in Uvalde, Texas at the memorial set up for the victims of the shooting at Robb Elementary School. The couple also brought their 3 children along; 13 year old Levi, 12 year old Vida and 9 year old Livingston.

The news of the shooting hit Mathew particularly because the actor was born and raised in Uvalde, Texas. Mathew had lived in a small town of Uvalde until he was 11 years old and shared a message on his Instagram about how he felt regarding the event in his home town on the very day of the shooting.

“Once again, we have tragically proven that we are failing to be responsible for the rights our freedoms grant us,” Said McConaughey in his social media address.

Mathew declared the situation an epidemic but one that CAN be controlled. Another celebrity, Singer Harry Styles had shared a statistic that Gun Violence was the number one cause of death for children and teens in America making a similar inference to the occurrence as an epidemic. Styles has agreed to pledge $1 million to the cause of putting an end to gun violence in America once and for all.

Mathew further stated that people standing on both sides of the “aisle” know that they can do better, no doubt referring to the debate regarding gun control laws in the country in which the two major political parties hold directly opposing stances.

Mathew urged the nation to take action so that no parent has to experience the kind of tragedy that had occurred in Uvalde, Texas.

On 24th of May, 18 year old Salvador Ramos entered Robb Elementary School with multiple riffles and shot 19 students and 2 teachers while wounding about 17 other people, before being shot by the authorities himself. The shooter had purchased 2 AR 15 riffles from a store only a few miles from his home only a week earlier when he had turned 18.

The incident has sparked the debate regarding gun control laws in the country once again and celebrities, politicians and people of power from all walks of life are choosing their sides.
